Ford restyle its entire range Mustang. The "top", the Shelby GT500, just torpedo the efforts of Chevrolet with a new block of 650 horses.
While the Camaro ZL1 promised to dominate the debate by aligning 580 horses at the end of flywheel, Ford was quick to publicize its response. The new Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 engine introduced a new "supercharged" to claim the top spot. If the improvements are visible aesthetic and shared with GT versions, and the Boss 302 Mustang coupe and convertible, the "improvements" of the chassis and engine are themselves well fitted to the GT 500. Not hit the cobra wants.
The V8 (standard) the world's most powerful
The Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 launches a new engine. The V8 in front cube 5.8 liter 650 horsepower through the adoption of a TVS 2300 supercharger. This ensures an almost constant overeating and allow the Mustang to offer the driver 800Nm of torque at low revs. The V8 is also revising its policy of cooling oil / water intercooler and offers an air / air volume increased by 36%. In order to contain the onslaught of eight bowls, drive shaft and the whole box / bridge were modernized. Still six-speed box modifies its five gears (the fourth remains unchanged) under the command of a new twin-disc clutch.
320km / h V-max
In addition to the restyled shared with the rest of the range (and new LED rear lights), the aesthetic work on the 2012 Shelby GT500 is reflected in a sculpture of the body focusing on the function to form. Without cooling or sabotage the aerodynamics (little evidence on the Mustang saw the wind resistance of the grille), Ford has increased the press on the front to increase control when braking. Settings AdvanceTrac electronic suspensions and management were reviewed with the possibility of complete disconnection or full assistantship. The V-Max is calibrated to 320km / h.
Pack and Track Performance Package
The new Shelby offers two optional packages dedicated to pure performance. The Performance Pack includes a Torsen limited slip differential in conjunction with Bilstein adjustable suspension (via the Advance Trac). The Track Package complete the "Performance" by increasing the cooling capacity of the engine and transmission fluids. Otherwise, the tires, is entrusted to the Mustang Shelby GT500 at the Goodyear Eagle F1 SuperCar G: 2, on 19-inch front wheels and 20 inch rear.
Some options
Other options involve again the performance of the machine. A launch-control developed by SVT (Special Vehicle Team) provides an excellent base by combining the data engine and transmission as a function of temperature and degree of wear of the suspension. A Brembo brake package is optional while the Torsen differential in the Performance Pack is available alone.
Ford insists that the parameters chassis / engine are directly ordered by the pilot.
